Gewurztraminer Release, Rose' Day, & More At LLWC!
/The 10 day forecast is sunny and summery, the perfect time for wine on the patio. Even more exciting than summer’s arrival is the release of our 2022 Gewurztraminer Reserve! This light bodied wine is bone dry with zero residual sugar. The expressive aromatics of lychee and flowers moves onto the palate of green plantains and pine nuts with a citrus zest finish. Mellower than the 2020 vintage, this wine is sure to delight any white wine enthusiast. If you haven’t tried a Gewurztraminer recently, we highly recommend trying this one; it won’t disappoint. Plus these grapes came from a Sustainable WA Certified Vineyard (see below)!
Sustainable WA
We’re excited to announce that starting with our 2022 vintage, the grapes we use to make our wines (with the exception of our Sangiovese red wine) are sustainably grown wine grapes certified in the Sustainable WA program. Our vineyards were some of the first in the state to get this designation, which adhere to standards that include watershed protection, soil health, low input farming, employee and community stewardship, and climate resiliency. Many decisions go into the vineyards we partner with and making sure our vineyards share our vision of stewardship of the land that provides us with grapes is at the top of our list. And speaking of sustainability…

National Rose’ Day
Although we don’t need an excuse to drink rose’, National Rose’ Day is this Saturday, June 8th (or June 23rd, depending on which website you view). This year’s vintage of Rose’ is made from Sangiovese grapes grown specifically to be made into rose’ from the Kiona Estate Vineyard. Mark always lets the grapes take the lead in the winemaking process, and this year’s rose’ wanted to be off-dry, meaning it stopped fermenting with a little residual sugar left in the wine. It’s been a big hit in the tasting room with a quarter of it being sold since it’s release in early May. Now is the perfect excuse to stock up on this great summer wine before it’s gone.
